At the airport, business was going on as usual. Busy customers and personnel hustled about, getting ready for the day at hand. It was early morning, and the last redeye was unloading its passengers and cargo. Baggage checks, ticket purchases, and security measures were all being carried out as normal.
Outside, the slowly lightening sky was bleak and grey. Rain threatened, but so far none of today's departures were in danger of cancellation. Among these departures was a private flight scheduled for 9:00 am. It would be this small plane (small a relative term, since its capacity was 50 people) that brought over the students and straggling staff to the Durindana Academy, which had chartered the flight. It would be a short trip; only a few hours, and it would bring its passengers to the island on which the school was situated, out in international waters.
As the time of departure neared, those who meant to arrive by air were coming to the airport...
