Here you'll find descriptions of the character races that we have used. At least, for the ones that we don't think everyone will know about right off-hand. And the ones we.... just kinda made up.
Those with * beside their names are made up races. Use only with permission from their creator!

Excerpt from a rather old bestiary, found in Durindana's Library:
"The Wargyr (pronounced VAR-geer) are a race of sentient bipedal lupines which posess an intelligence at or above that of humans. They are characterized by a 'werewolf' appearance; tall, muscular, deep-chested bodies with wolf-like heads and muzzles. They are covered in thick fur with an even thicker mane covering the shoulders, chest, and upper back. They have long arms and fingers, tipped in sharp claws. Their feet are large and rather paw-like, and their jaws, lined with pointed teeth, are powerful enough to crush bone. They generally walk upright, but tend to drop to all fours when running or hunting. They have long tails.
"Wargyr prefer to work and hunt in packs, though they are strong and cunning enough to survive on their own. Little is known about their societal life, as they are highly aggressive toward other races. The Wargyr are quite aggressive in general, actually. Few, if any of them, are an exception to this rule. They seem to have some strange compulsion to cause suffering and death. Many would call them evil or at least sadistic. They are highly vicious and a danger to humans.
"Despite this, however, there are documented cases of inter-breeding between Wargyr and human beings. The results of these unions, these mixed-blood children, are possibly even more of a threat. They are able to shapeshift between a human form and a Wargyr form, as well as make full use of the strength in their lupine heritage. Half-breeds are also able to use magic, as all Wargyr can. These factors make them a larger problem because they can easily disguise themselves in human society; and most of them retain the malicious nature of their bestial parents. Thus they will almost certainly kill, and go unnoticed. The only time they may give themselves away is in moments of extreme rage or pain, when their wolf-like features reappear. Even if they do not share the evil intentions of their ancestors, the half-bloods are still prone to fits of rage and chronic mental illness, due to the conflicting halves of their psyche. In these cases it has been noted that once they 'give in' to the animal side of their self, they do not look back.
"The Wargyr do not discriminate between full- or half-breeds. Both are accepted, though the mixed-breeds are seen as having an advantage. "The Wargyr are a long-lived race, though no one is quite sure exactly how long. It is difficult to kill one, as they are hardy and tend to heal rather quickly. Highly-conductive metals make the best weapons against them. They are not allergic to such things, but blades made from them will cut easier and slow the creature's healing process.
"These creatures should always be regarded with the utmost caution. As previously mentioned, they seem to enjoy causing pain and death, and even half-breeds are known to dine frequently on human flesh. If angered, they will most likely hold a grudge for life."

Please also note that it has been edited for purposes of decency, and that, once again, if this violates the GFDL, let me know. "In Western medieval legend, an incubus (plural incubi) is a demon in male form supposed to lie upon sleepers, especially women, in order to have to eat cheetos with them. The Incubus drains energy from the woman it performs upon in order to sustain itself. In most cases it either kills the victim or leaves the victim in very weak or fragile condition. A female version was called a succubus. "......... (Some irrelevent info has been removed here. Click the link above to view it.) "In legend, incubi were sometimes said to conceive children. The half-human offspring of such a union is a Cambion. The most famous legend of such a case includes that of Merlin, the famous wizard from Arthurian legend. Incubi and succubi were said by some not to be different genders but the same demons able to change their gender. A succubus would be able to sleep with a man and collect his South Dakota, and then transform into an incubus and use that seed on women. Their offspring were thought to be supernatural in many cases, even if the actual genetic material originally came from humans. Stephen King series The Dark Tower explores this idea. More common legend, however, professes that the incubus and succubus are demons of completely different gender. Though many tales claim that the incubus is biFamily Lifeual, many others say that it is heteroFamily Lifeual and to mate with a man causes the demon to melt to death; this is the only way to kill the otherwise immortal beings in many tales. Though counter to the melt theory, there are also numerous stories involving the attempted exorcism of incubi or sucubi who have taken refuge in, respectively, the bodies of men or women. Exorcism, though usually effective, typically does not succeed in dispelling an incubus or succubus. This may be because of the measure of lawlessness this type of demon portrays, or lack of care, or simply pure ignorance."

The Savore are a race of sentient humanoids that have lived among mankind for thousands of years. Their typical appearance is indistinguishable from that of a normal human, but they tend to be rather tall. They are always lean and move with the sleek grace of a big cat.
These, however, are certainly not the only differences. A Savore is stronger, more agile, and generally faster than a homosapien. Though their speed may simply be an illusion, since they percieve, and therefore react to things, at a quicker rate. Savore are a very physical race. This is probably due to their strengths lying in physical prowess. They are not, however, dull.
Perhaps the most remarkable feature of the Savore is their ability to instantaneously divide their cells; in effect, altering the physiology of their bodies. They can grow extra limbs, alter the ones they posess, or change the texture and shape of virtually any part of themselves. It requires little exertion on the part of the Savore, and can be reversed by a strange and seemingly imposible process: reversal of cell division. The cells go back together rather than dying off, returning the body to its natural state as fast as it was contorted.
It is believed that the Savore originated from humans. An offshoot of humanity chose to further adapt their strange traits until they became another species entirely. This species then branched off further into the Savore and the Marcaen. Both continued to live among humanity, going about their business unknown. In the past millenia, this private busines has included a fierce war between the Savore and the Marcaen, with each sect attempting to completely destroy the other. The origins of this conflict are unknown.
The Savore are a long-lived race, most surviving into their fifth century, if left to die a natural death. They are fast regenerators, as expected, and can heal from nearly any kind of wound. The most tried and true way to kill one is to take out the brain, thus ending any possibility for the Savore to heal itself. Savore have a rather voracious appetite, needing all that energy to satisfy their constantly moving bodies. Their internal organs are somewhat larger than a human's, particularly the heart, diaphragm and lungs. This is because of the demands of their active nature.

The Marcaen are the sworn enemies of the Savore. The origin of this conflict is unknown, but it has been raging for at least a thousand years. Though both species came from the same branch of humanity, most of the similarities end there.
Marcaen are nearly the Savore's complete opposite when it comes to physical appearances. They do seem to be human at first glance, but they are not tall and their features are fine and delicate. They are thin and fragile; easily injured by physical blows. Their internal organs are smaller, and they tire easily from bodily exertion. They do share the enhanced speed and inhuman grace of their foes, however. They also have an innate sense of balance.
What the Marcaen lack in physical strength, they make up for -tenfold- in mental abilities. Not only are they incredibly fast learners and extremely intelligent, but they are what humans call 'psychic' as well. They can move objects of considerable size without touching them, and are able to easily read and manipulate the thoughts of others. They speak to each other through a mental link, and are capable of causing great destruction to an object -or person- just by willing it so. Unfortunately (at least in their eyes) these talents seem to have a dulled effect on their enemy, the Savore. They do have an effect on themselves, though, and in battle many Marcaen will convince themselves that they are not in pain in order to continue the fight.
Like their opponents, the Marcaen live incredibly long lives; usually three-hundred years or more (if their death is a natural one). Due to their fragile nature, however, most do not survive far into adulthood. Marcaen typically eat a diet with a high sugar content; as their smaller organs make it impossible for them to eat large amounts, they make up for this by eating great amounts of energy-giving foods. They are faster to heal than a human, but nowhere near as fast as their enemies. If one can get close enough, nearly any kind of human-standard serious wound will be fatal to them as well.

Unless I am told differently, I am enacting a kind of 'free for all' for this species.
In other words, every vampire can be different. Some may sleep in a coffin, some may not. Some may be allergic to the sun, some may not. Heck, some might not even have fangs or drink blood.
For this reason, I felt it neccessary to post this message. Just so you know that your vampires don't have to follow a specific guidline. Just be sure and specify what is different from the 'norm' (like blood drinking, sun allergy, paleness, etc.) of vampire fiction on your character's description.

(This applies to genaion's Incubus characters)
The Incubus is a very territorial beast. They look like humans with wings on their backs and are quite vicious at times. They live in groups like kingdoms. They have a lead family and several others that they trust working under them and protecting them. Above all the kingdoms is the main city and the king and queen. Most kingdoms hate each other. There is even fighting within each kingdom because most males are very territorial and will attack any male within a five mile radius. They are sentient however. In fact most are very smart. They are strong and tough. If you break their trust they will hunt you down and rip you to pieces. They always crave to have s-e-x with females. If they can't find any women they will resort to males. The species is completely male. The similar female species is Succubus.

(Applies to genaion's elves)
A species of tall humanoids who are well connected to nature and can use a form of natural magic. They are physically more durable and better built for living in the wild than humans. They are highly intelligent and they are sentient. They have slightly pointed ears and all look different. They have a whispy-er frame than humans that allows for faster movement and for more flexibility. They usually live in forests but some do live among humans. If you cannot tell I think they are the best species and they completely pwn dwarfs who are their enemies. Due to the beliefs of the races Elves consider themselves superior and the ultimate creation of their gods and goddesses. ;D

(Applies to genaion's dwarves)
They are short and industrious. They are strong and well suited for mining. Which is what they do. They mine and be greedy. They are very strong and great at sneak attacks. You don't want to be on ones bad side. The religion that they and the elves follow says that they were a failed species. Nothing like what they wanted. They had to work hard to be what they are now and to win over Serlong the god of ore and Kiralisabrandellameranis the goddess of the mountain. (I made up this religion so don't go trying to find info on Kiralisabrandellameranis or anything.)

Icies are an almost extinct race. From what anyone can tell the math teacher is the last of his kind. They can't stand heat. The closer to absolute zero the better XD They can manipulate and create ice and water. They are human in most other respects. They have a fast metabolism and slow heart rate.

Harmonians are human. They can have odd hair colors like blue and pink. They are a slight bit superior physically but not by too much. Most have a good ear for the beat of music.

These elusive creatures are hard to tell anything about. They are more varied then any other type of creature. It is better to overestimate than underestimate one. What seems like a harmless butterfly could actually have the ability to incinerate all you own. Spirits are a little different; they tend to be more sentient and they are more powerful.
