YOU MUST READ THESE. No exceptions.
Out-of-Character Rules
(The rules that you, as the comic artist, must follow)
1. As of now, the only restriction as to how you do your entries is that it MUST be in comic form. Number of pages, artistic medium, style, etc., is all up to you.
2. Obviously, violence is unrestricted. Well, almost. Don't go 'Saw' on us here. This isn't a gorefest, it's a fighting tourney.
3. Cursing is allowed, if it fits the character's persona. Just don't overdo it, mmmkay?
4. Sexual themes are highly discouraged. They tend to make people uncomfortable. Yes, I know that violence and cursing can make people uncomfortable too, but this is a fighting tournament, so those things are expected. Sexual behavior is only allowed if it's inherent in the character's nature. And again, don't over do it.
5. You MUST give your opponent a chance. There is to be no match in which you just outright own your opponent. That's... well, it's not fun.
6. Keep your opponent's character in their right personality!!! Don't alter them for the sake of your story. That could end up upsetting their owner, as well as the judges.
7. For the tournament forums, the regular Durindana Academy forum rules apply (sans the parts about the rp).
8. Please don't complain about the matchups. We are doing them by literally drawing out of a hat (or whatever container is handy) so it's not rigged. Kthx.
9. Standard time for each round is 2 weeks (as of now). If you need more time, let us know. However, realize that this won't guarantee you more time. Only if a majority of the contestants request more time will more time be given.
10. You must have a reference both in looks/colors and personality for your character at all times during the tourney.
11. If you're caught breaking the rules, don't tell us you didn't know. If you aren't sure about something, check and see if it's allowed. Ignorance is no defense.
12. If you commit a major infraction against the rules, you will probably be disqualified, and your opponent wins by default.
13. If you commit a minor infraction, you will probably be penalized. How? Oh, well think of something... >}
14. If your opponent is disqualified or quits the tourney, you have already won your round. However, you are still required to at least post something for that round. Be it a victory pose or a finished comic. Either one.
15. Please, please reconsider strongly before quitting. If too many people quit, we can't even do this!
16. At some points in the competition, you may end up in a 'battle royale'. In other words, against more than one opponent. In the case of this happening, you must have your character fighting both opponents in the comic, but only one out of the three of you will be chosen to win. We will try to keep this from happening, though.
17. If you can't meet your deadline because you cannot finish coloring/toning/shading your comic, then please submit it anyway. You never know, even an unfinished comic could win a round!
18. REMINDER: If your character disobeys an in character rule, you yourself won't be taken out or punished as a contestant. Your character, however, might end up in hot water...
In Character Rules
(The rules that your character must follow in the tournament itself)
1. Each match can only end when the opponent(s) is/are unconscious or dead.
2. All weapons are allowed.
3. You may not, at any time, attempt to leave the island.
4. You many not, at any time, attempt to interfere with the school's functioning.
5. You may not, at any time, enter any doors that are marked against such entry.
6. You may come to the island with one or more allies, but only one of you can fight. This one person does not have to be the same person each round. (One member of a group can take on the first opponent, while one other member takes on the next.)
For now, that is all. These rules may change, but you'll be notified in such an instance.
