From the nearby ocean a strong wind blew, bringing with it the saltine taste of black waves. Overhead, the screech of seagulls filled the air as the seabirds spiraled in search of food. The distant crash of powerful waters meeting the shoreline cliffs could be heard. It was a bleak early morning, threatening rain; but for now, the skies were simply brooding.
At the pier, a ship was ready. It had been chartered by Durindana Academy, an up and coming private school; however unfortunately located in the middle of nowhere. The ship's only purpose was to transport students (and the few stragglers of staff and faculty) to the island on which the school was situated; about a half-day's journey from the docks and located in international waters.
As the darkness of morning slowly gave rise to the half-light of an overcast midday, cars and other vehicles began to pull up to the port. The journey was soon to start for those who chose to arrive by sea.
